Electronic cigarette or E-cigarette is an innovation of the modern technology. It is a battery-powered smoking device that looks like a real tobacco cigarette but provides doses of vaporized nicotine solutions when puffed or inhaled. The earliest e-cigarette was developed in China in the year 2003 and it was exported to other countries during 2005 and it slowly gained popularity in all countries of the world including India. Now, e-cigarettes are even sold on internet.

People are aware of the fact that smoking is injurious to health since the habit increases the risk of coronary heart disease by itself besides creating other health problems. Yet, smokers find it difficult to get away from the clutches of addiction to tobacco smoking. Researches say that only 5% of the people succeed in giving up the habit of smoking.

Quitting the habit of smoking must be a slow and a steady process which requires a lot of mental strength. Initially they can go for alternative measures like using nicotine gum, nicotine patches and e-cigarettes. Some of the smokers who are a little bit concerned about their health have started switching over to the e-cigarette as it is considered to be a alternative to the traditional tobacco products like cigarettes, cigars or pipes.
